(y/n) (L/n) : honor student in college, popular, and totally inept at fixing anything. In fact she can barely figure out how to fix her own computer or toaster. However she could tell you how to solve a complex math algorithm in less than ten minutes, complete with a whiteboard full of computations that would make other's heads spin.

"Oh come on!" She yells as she kicks the tire of her car.

Today (y/n)'s car decided it wasn't going to start. Already she was behind schedule to get to class and that was not good. Popping the hood open she looks at the complex structure at a complete loss of what to do. Why didn't she listen to her father when he said she should learn this stuff? Sighing, (y/n) rakes a hand through her hair, this was just perfect. It wasn't even nine o'clock and she was getting a headache.

"Hey, you alright?"

(Y/n) looks over to see Jean Kirschtein, her next door neighbor. She blushes and looks down at her feet for looking so stupid in front of him. Jean seemed like a rather okay guy, he never bothered her unless it was important and he was quite cute. However he did have an abrasive side, something (y/n) had seen first hand one time. Frankly, it scared her a little, only a little though.

"Yeah my car just won't start."

"Oh? Maybe I can help, let me take a look." He comes over and sets his messenger bag on the ground.

"Oh it's okay you don't have to!"  (y/n) blurts out as she waves her hands. However Jean is already leaning inside the car.

"Oh, I can fix that." He says and reaches further into the car's interior mechanisms.

He jiggles something it sounds like and then retracts his arm.  (y/n) winces when she sees the grime coating his long sleeved shirt. That looked really gross. However he has a smile on his face as he takes her keys from her hand and goes over to the drivers side. Putting the key into the ignition slot he turns it and the car starts.  (y/n)'s mouth drops open, how the hell had he done that?

"Here you go. All fixed." He grins.

"Jean... thank you! I don't know what I would've done."

He strips off his overshirt and wads it up, "It was no problem, really. Just a spark plug that got disconnected somehow."

She notices him pulling out a bus pass as he picks up his bag.  (y/n) feels really bad that she made him work on her car and ruin his shirt. "Hey Jean, why don't you let me give you a ride to your class?" She offers.

He shakes his head, "It's fine, I can wait for the bus."

"No, I insist. I mean you did fix my car. Besides I'm sure our classrooms are pretty close together."

Jean looks as though he's about to argue but in the end nods his head, "Alright."

(y/n) smiles wide as she picks up her bag and closes the hood to her car. The two jump in and she starts heading toward Sina College. That was really the first time the two had spent any real time together and unbeknownst to the other, they liked it. A lot.

"Not again..."  (y/n) sighs as her washer suddenly wasn't starting up. "Mikasa do you know how to fix a clothes washer?!"

"No. Call someone."

This month was just not in (y/n)'s favor. In fact a lot of things lately had been breaking down on her and her roommate. Walking into the living room she sees said room mate tutoring none other than Eren Jaeger in college algebra. She wrinkles her nose at that, she hated math.

Grabbing a tool bag that Mikasa's father had bought for them several months back she goes back into the laundry room. Standing there for a moment  (y/n) purses her lips, her mind working a million miles an hour. Perhaps she should call Jean over to try and help her. However she didn't want to bother him, especially at ten at night.  However she had to wash her clothes since she was out of all of them.

Standing there biting her lip for about five minutes she decided to say hell with it and to go and ask him. Pulling on some shoes she walks the ten feet down the hallway and stops at his door, apartment number 312 B. Suddenly now that she's here, (y/n) is beginning to rethink her life choices. Was it really a good idea to bother him?

However before she can decide it seemed that someone else decided to. The door opens and someone is waving over their shoulder and smacks straight into (y/n). She lets out a squeal and the two of them go crashing down onto the pavement. Ouch.

"Oh my god I'm sorry!" The guy back off of her and (y/n) sees a blush spread over speckled cheeks. "Are you okay?"

(y/n) groans and rubs the back of her head, "Yeah I'm alright. I'm sorry though it's my fault. I shouldn't have been standing in the front of the door like that."

"Yo, Marco what the hell? Did you just trip over your own feet again?" Jean appears in the doorway and his face scrunches up in confusion, "Eh (y/n) what's up?"

(y/n) feels like she wants to die, "Uh... I was wondering if maybe you could help me with something..." She trails off and looks down at her feet.

"Yeah, what's broken down now?" He holds out a hand and helps her up while the guy, Marco, gets to his feet.

"Washer..."

"Let's go take a look at it." He turns back to Marco, "You good man?"

Marco smiles wide at his best friend and mouths 'someone has a crush!' before replying, "Yeah I'm fine."

Jean shoots him the bird discreetly and then follows (Y/n) into her apartment. Ignoring the looks from Mikasa and Eren, (Y/n) leads him to the washer and the bag of tools. "I've literally tried everything to get this working. I don't know what to do..."

Jean walks around to the back where everything is, "Ah, I can fix that." He pops out from the back, "Do me a favor and hand me those tools. I should be done in less than ten minutes."

True to his word it was only ten minutes before the washer worked again. (Y/n) felt like she could kiss him. "Jean, I swear you are a life saver. Thank you!" She pecks him on the cheek and then goes off to go wash her clothes. That was the first time that Jean could fully admit that he had a crush on (Y/n).

*********************************

(Y/n) thought she was going to lose it. Now her lock was borken on her apartment door. Was some higher power trying to screw her over this month or something? Trying everything she finally takes her key and slams it down on the ground. Slamming her foot down on that she starts grinding the metal into the pavement as though it was the key's fault.

"(Y/n)? What are you doing?" Jean asks as he stands there with an eyebrow raised, a to-go cup of coffee in hand.

"The damn apartment lock is broken now! I can't fucking get in and Mikasa is gone for at least two days."

Jean laughs a little before he goes over and gently lifts her foot off of the key. "First off the key isn't the problem, so I wouldn't damage that."

(Y/n) felt her heart rate increase at the feel of his hand on her leg. This was ridiculous. "I-I know that but there's no way to fix this."

Jean, key in hand, grins at her, "Trust me, I can fix that."

"Really?"

"Yeah, give me a minute." He walks back into his own apartment and comes out with a few pins and a hammer.

(Y/n) raises an eyebrow at his choice of tools. She steps back and watches Jean work his magic. She was so lucky that he was kind enough to help her out. Not to mention she always got a great view of him when he would work on her things. She liked watching the way his strong arms would easily lift things or the way the muscles would ripple when he was wrenching away on something. She couldn't help but like the way Jean would give her a smile when he was done.

Seeing that smile she couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy. He looked a lot nicer when he smiled. She wished that she could see that smile all the time. However she couldn't just break thngs around the apartment just to have him over. Mikasa would kill her if she did that.

"Done."

(Y/n) blinks and looks at Jean, "O-oh, thank you!" She quickly puts on a smile, hoping he wouldn't ask about what she was thinking.

Ah there was that smile again, "No problem. If you have anything else that needs to be fixed you know where to find me."

She gives him a hug and allows herself to peck his cheek, "I will, thank you Jean. You seriously are the most amazing guy ever."

He smiles before leaving and (Y/n) watches him go, a slight frown on her face. This was the first time that (Y/n) decided she would definitely have to make a point of seeing him again, on more than a friendly basis.

*********************************
A few weeks passed and Jean patiently waited for something else of (Y/n)'s to break so that he could go over there and fix it. Unfortunately it seemed like everything was in working order, much to his annoyance.

Every morning he would pass by (Y/n) and give her a wave and smile but as soon as he was out of her eyesight he would scowl. What would it take for something else of hers to break? He knew that was a bad thing to think about something breaking and causing her inconvenience but he didn't really know how else to talk to her.

Once before he'd attempted to talk to her without a reason for fixing something and he just choked up. In fact when he walked away from her Jean thought he was going to drown himself for acting so stupid in front of her. He didn't attempt that again because he figured that soon enough something would break.

Luckily today was the day.

Jean was coming up the stairs towards his apartment when he heard sobbing. Rushing up onto his floor Jean's heart leaps into his throat. (Y/n) is sitting on the ground, back to her door, crying. He hurries over to her and kneels down and places his hands on her shoulders.

"(Y/n) what's wrong? Are you okay?" He asks worriedly.

(Y/n) startles and then starts wiping her eyes, "I-it's nothing Jean. I-I just got into a f-fight with Mikasa."

His eyebrows scrunch up, "Why? What's going on?"

"Sh-she said she's m-moving in with E-Eren and leaving me a-alone." She starts crying all over again.

"I don't get it, what's wrong? Can you not pay for your apartment?"

"N-no it's just I'm so t-tt-terrified of being alone!" She buries her head into his chest and starts crying all over again.

Jean immediately understands, she's got monophobia: the fear of being alone for long periods of time. Jean holds her tighter and has a crazy idea, so crazy it could just work. However he's got to phrase it right so that he doesn't come off as a creep.

"I can fix that."

"R-really?" She peers up at him.

His eyes are staring straight into hers, "Yes, if you'll let me." His face is awefully close to hers.

(Y/n)'s eyes lower a fraction, "Please."  She seals their lips together. Jean holds her tenderly, as though she'll break. He knows she's in a fragile place and he doesn't want to overwhelm her. Breaking apart a little bit he places small kisses all over her face, kissing away her tears and hopefully the fears with them.

True to his word Jean did fix it because two months later when Mikasa moved out, Jean moved in.
